Hoye, Psyche a "woman as special as her name", died 9/2/17 in Hopkins, MN at age 92 in the presence of family. Born 10/4/1924 in Rice Lake WI, she was named Psyche Mary Kerschbaum by her father, a Greek mythology aficionado. She was raised in Rochester MN, Linton ND, and Turtle Lake WI. Psyche worked as a secretary for the editor of Sports Afield magazine in Minneapolis prior to her marriage in 1945 to Almon G. Hoye Jr. She and Al were married for 63 years until Al's death in 2009. They were both faithful members of the Catholic Church. Their years were blessed with mutual love, travel, enjoyment of life and the raising of eight children. Psyche was best known for her sense of fun and stylish, coordinated outfits. She had charismatic and equally fun-loving friends. She was active in the church guild, bridge clubs, faculty wives' clubs, amateur theater, a neighbors group--"Menders and Marchers", and in 1981 made the Guinness Book of World Records with the "Tommy Tappers" for the "greatest assemblage of tap dancers ever in a single routine". She served as Al's "straight man" until his death, at which time she blossomed as a joke-teller, renewing her social activities after years of caring for him. She was thrilled to move into an apartment at the Hopkins Glenn Towers, March 2017. Psyche was an avid fan of the Minnesota Twins, Jeopardy, Downton Abbey, and Lawrence Welk. She loved books, all card games, dancing, crossword puzzles, dogs, garage sales and gardening. The Afton MN Fourth of July parade/family gathering was a favorite annual event. She held season tickets for the Guthrie Theater for many years. Psyche also enjoyed movies, cooking, entertaining, and knew many poems by heart from childhood. Psyche was preceded in death by her beloved husband Al and her brother John ("Jack") Kerschbaum. She is survived and sadly missed by her children, Heidi (Russell) Maxson of Chandler AZ, Betsy (Dan) Weber of Missoula MT, Christopher Hoye of Minneapolis, Shelley (James) Mitchell of Seattle WA, Nicholas (Pamela) Hoye of Edina MN, Geoffrey Hoye of Seattle WA, Katherine (Joseph) Nirmaier of Somerset WI, Jason (Janet) Hoye of Minneapolis; 18 grandchildren, 5 great-grand children, a dear sister-in-law Elaine Kerschbaum, Al's cousin Mark (Cristina) Cook, a multitude of loving nieces and nephews, lifelong friends, and a beagle named Daisy. A special thank you to Marion Fahey, a much-loved friend and cheerleader during her recent illness. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday September 22, 2017 at 11:00AM at Our Lady of Grace Church, 5071 Eden Avenue, Edina MN 55436. Visitation will begin one hour prior. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Christ Recovery Center, 580 Hwy 96W, St. Paul, MN, 55126. "As a day well spent brings blessed sleep, so a life well lived brings a blessed death."
