Kolar, Laura Rosalie McGough Died peacefully at her St. Paul home surrounded by family on August 21, 2017, at age 66. Laura will be remembered as a person who lived to share her life with others, especially her family and many dear friends. She gave of herself freely, generously and selflessly. Laura is survived by loving husband and life partner of 45 years, Dr. Stephen J. Kolar. They fell in love in college and built a beautiful life together, raising their three children, Sarah Kolar (Eric Tennessen), Alix (Ben) Aase, and Peter (Sally) Kolar, who all chose the Twin Cities as the place to build their own lives. Laura was known as "Lolo" to her eight grandchildren, who adored her: Nola, August (Gus) and Charles Tennessen; Laura (Etta) and Oskar Aase; and Finn, William and Hadley Kolar. Laura grew up in St. Mark's parish in St. Paul, the daughter of Charles P. and Virginia Schuck McGough, and sister to Deborah Gaughan Paradise (Dan), Kathleen (Kate) A. McGough, Peter T. McGough and Timothy J. McGough (Jane). Laura is also survived by her many nieces and nephews, her McGough and Schuck extended families, mother-in-law Marjorie Kolar, and the Kolar family. A graduate of Our Lady of Peace High School and the College of St. Catherine, Laura dedicated her talents to causes she believed in, serving for many years as Coordinator of Ministry at The Church of St. Gregory the Great in St. Paul, and, most recently, serving on the Board of the HealthEast Foundation, which she chaired from 2011 until her resignation due to illness in 2014. During her chairmanship, she led with vision and pioneered an innovative strategic plan that transformed the way in which the Foundation partners with the community. Visitation 4:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, August 24, at O'Halloran & Murphy Funeral Home (575 S. Snelling Ave., St. Paul) and at church one hour prior to the service.
