Wright, Eugene "Gene" Harold age 84, peacefully passed away on August 10, 2017 at Waverly Gardens, North Oaks, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sherrill Sue Kinder Wright, father, Harold Wright, and Mother, Leona Peterson Wright. He is survived by his children, daughter, Robin Moyer of San Diego, CA and son, Steve Wright of Boulder, Colorado. Gene had three grandchildren, Kelsey & Kevin Moyer, of San Diego and Harmony Wright in Boulder. Gene was born in Audubon, Iowa and graduated from Iowa State University in 1955 with a B. S. degree in Industrial Engineering. Gene served in the U.S. Army, 2nd Lieutenant, Corps of Engineers, 1956-1957. Gene had a distinguished career in sales and marketing at 3M, including five years as the International Product Manager for the Industrial Tape Division in Brussels, Belgium. He retired from 3M in 1994. Gene then went on to become the Executive Director for the Aggregate & Ready Mix Association of Minnesota before finally retiring for good in 2001. Upon retirement, he was able to indulge his passion for travel and fine dining. Gene was also an avid handball player, golfer, skier and marathon runner. He completed several New York City and Duluth Grandma's marathons. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Stillwater on October 27, 2017. Visitation will be at 10:00 am, with service to follow at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, it is suggested you give a gift to your favorite charity in Gene's name.
