Combs, William W. 86, of Minneapolis, MN, passed away on August 12, 2017. Bill was born on February 12, 1931 in St. Louis Missouri, to Charlie and Rhea Combs. Bill is preceded in death by his parents, brother Eddie, sisters Dolly and Jane and daughter Savannah. Bill is survived by his loving and devoted companion of 31 years, Judith Sprenger, children Bill Combs (Laural), Leigh Combs, Sally Combs, Marna Wozniak (Scott), his brother George Combs; his grandchildren Stephen and Sarah Wozniak, Gunnar and Logan Combs, Viggo Combs Lescarbeau. Bill graduated from Wash U in St. Louis where he played both varsity football and baseball and lettered in both. Bill moved to Minnesota while working for Hager Hinge Company where he met his former wife Martha Aldrich. Bill went on to start his own sales company in architectural hardware, Combs & Associates that is now proudly run by his son Bill Jr. Bill was proud of his 43 years of sobriety and loyal to AA and his many close friends in the AA community. Bill was a family man always in support of his kids, grandkids and his partner Judy. Bill had many wonderful years of golf at Minneapolis Golf Club, Burl Oaks Golf Club and Hideaway Golf Club in Ft. Myers FL. He had many friends at the Hideaway Country Club where he spent his winters. We invite family and friends to join us in remembering Bill on Wednesday, September 6th at the Minnetonka Community Center, 14600 Minnetonka Blvd., Service at 1 pm followed by a dessert fellowship. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to: Give Saint Therese.
