Berghoff, William "Bill" Beloved husband, father, grand-father and servant of God passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Aug. 11, 2017. He lived 88 years and is survived by his loving wife, Mary Lou; daughter, Theresa (Kevin) Orth, Dr. William (Pauline) Berghoff, Kathryn (Chuck) Foster; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Bill was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana and graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1950. It was the fourth consecutive year that the Notre Dame football team was undefeated. Bill began his career with Traveler's Insurance Company in 1950 and was transferred to Connecticut and then to Minnesota. At 58, he retired and his strong faith guided him to his studies and ordination into the deaconite of the Catholic Church. Bill joyfully served at St Richard's Church for twenty years ministering to the people. He baptized hundreds of babies and performing many marriages. While living in Minnesota, he embraced the lakes, fishing, outdoor activities and watching sunsets. Through his strong devotion to his family, he was always very encouraging and supportive. Bill's love will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dudley Emergency Fund at St Edwards, for families in need. Mass of Christian Burial Mon., Aug. 21, 11 am at St. Edward's Catholic Church, 9401 Nesbitt Ave S., Bloomington.
