Schiffman, Lucille H. age 96 of Bloomington, died on July 24, 2017. Lucy was born on August 2, 1920 to Clara and Henry Wittenberg in Moltke Twnshp near Gibbon, Minnesota, She attended St. Peters Lutheran School. Lucy worked in St Paul for several years, then returned to the Gibbon/Fairfax area where she met Rolly Schiffman. They were married on October 5, 1941. Shortly after Pearl Harbor, Rolly enlisted in the Army Air Force and Lucy went to the Twin Cities where she worked as "Rosie the Riveter" at the war plant in Arden Hills. She spoke of those days often. They returned to Fairfax after the war, then moved to Gibbon where they operated Gibbon Welding and Repair, "the Shop". Times were good for them and they were happy in Gibbon. In 1964 they moved to Bloomington where Lucy worked at Dayton's Southdale, a job she had for 20 years. Lucy loved quilting and always had a project in progress. They enjoyed many years of retirement before moving to Meadow Woods Assisted Living in Bloomington. Rolly died in 2012 after 70 years of marriage. Lucy loved her family dearly. She is survived by children, Glendia (Gary) Fulkerson, Cheryl (Larry) Coulter, Lolly Schiffman and Byron (Martin Nelan) Schiffman; daughter-in-law Mary Schiffman, 9 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and 2 siblings. She was preceded in death by Rolly, their son Dean, their granddaughter, Suzanna and 3 siblings. A special thanks to the staff at Meadow Woods for the love and kindness shown to Lucy and Rolly. Memorial service, Monday, July 31st at 11:00 am at Mount Olivet Lutheran Church, 5025 Knox Ave. S. Visitation one hour prior to the service. Private interment Ft. Snelling.
