Treiber, John Age 77 was born in San Fernando, California to Dorothy (Johnston) and Raymond Treiber on June 16th, 1940. He grew up in South Mound and St. Paul, Kansas where he graduated from high school and soon afterward joined the Navy and served in Vietnam. He served on the USS Caliente from '59 to '62. Returning home he got a Bachelor of Science from the University of Minnesota as well as a masters in Psychology specializing in substance abuse rehabilitation. In 1982 he founded the non-profit People Serving People which became the largest family shelter in Minnesota; his generosity and philanthropy in serving people was a hallmark of his personal philosophy. On September 23rd, 1991 in Reno, Nevada he married Sara "Sary" Aguilar, a Peruvian social worker. They had a wonderful boy--Joshua--on December 8, 1997 and soon after opted for an early retirement in order to enjoy the quality time with darling young one. Both Sara and Joshua survive him. John came from a large and very Catholic family: siblings, Carl (Donna), Mike (Brenda), Pat (Cindy), Bill (Annette), Don (Kathy), Tim (Jennifer), Peggy Winter (Jerry), Mary Greenough, Alice Heflin (Lyn), and Theresa Thomas. Preceded in death by parents, Ray and Dorothy (Johnston) Treiber; brother, Bob Treiber; sister, Rita Treiber Winter; brothers-in-law Stan Thomas and Bob Greenough. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 24th at Holy Name Of Jesus Catholic Church, 155 County Road 24, Wayzata with visitation at 9:30 and mass at 10:30 a.m., followed by lunch and burial at 1:30 pm at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
