Aase, Shirley Odean of Edina, known and loved by all as "Dean," died July 11, 2017 at the age of 89 after working so very hard for months to overcome health issues. Dean is preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Arlene Marilyn (Christensen); parents, Nickolai and Cora Aase; and granddaughter, Kelley Lynn DeMarais. Survived by loving children Nancy DeMarais (Dave), Diane DeMarais (Joe), and Steven Aase; brother, Neil Aase; grandchildren Kris DeMarais (Tricia), Angela Leonardo, Lindsay Hillesheim (Andrew), Darrin Aase (Sara), Katelyn Aase, Tony DeMarais (Tessa), and Leann Simanovich (Igor); and great-grandchildren Sam DeMarais, AJ Hillesheim, Noah Leonardo, Charlie Hillesheim, Ellie Leonardo, Sean DeMarais, Livy Aase, Evelyn DeMarais, Cora Harris, and Alex DeMarais. Dean served at the end of World War II as a sergeant in the Army of the United States. He was a proud graduate of Dunwoody Institute and joined the Refrigeration Service Engineers Society in 1950. He worked as a refrigeration engineer his entire career, retiring from Pameco Corporation in 1994 after 40 years of service. The times he enjoyed most were those spent telling stories to his family & friends. Funeral service 10:30 AM on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at Hosanna! Church, 9600 163rd Street W, Lakeville, MN 55044, with visitation one hour prior. Interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the National MS Society or Minneapolis Recreation Development, Inc., a non-profit devoted to serving the homeless.
