Tuna, Naip 95, of Edina died on June 24. He was preceded in death by his wife Turkan and sister Cevher, and survived by sisters Hacer and Muzzeyen, daughter Nilgun (husband James McDonald), son Ishik (wife Carolyn Hughes), and four grandchildren. He was born in Romania in 1921 and educated in Istanbul, Turkey, before going to University of Kentucky for his Internal Medicine training. In 1954, he moved with his wife and child to the Twin Cities, where Dr. Tuna was the first fellow in Cardiology at the University of Minnesota, where he earned a PhD and joined the faculty. Dr. Tuna was a beloved and honored cardiologist, researcher and professor at the University of Minnesota until his retirement at the age of 90. He was also a devoted husband, father and grandfather, and will be greatly missed. The family deeply appreciates the care and kindness of the 6C faculty and staff at the University of Minnesota Medical Center in Dr. Tuna's final days, which he spent surrounded by his colleagues, friends and family members.
