Cherry, JoAnn Marie age 82 of Burnsville, MN (and most recently The Waters in Edina) passed away peacefully on June 22, 2017. JoAnn was born in Dennison, MN on October 30, 1935. She is survived by her beloved husband Richard James, Cherry to whom she was married for 59 years. She is survived by her two children, Carla Cherry Dahl (St. Louis Park, MN) and grandchildren Natalie (23) and Lauren (21); and daughter Paula Jean Sweet, her spouse, John Sweet (Edina, MN); and grandchildren children Rachel (24), Jennifer (23), and Luke (19). She is also survived by her sister June Thomas (Princeton, MN) and her 6 children (JoAnn's nieces and nephews). She is preceded in death by her parents Carl and Delpha Heil and brother Carl W. She was raised on a dairy farm in Faribault, MN. JoAnn met her husband "Dick" while attending St. Olaf College where she was a home economics major and also received a teaching degree. Following her marriage to Dick and the birth and upbringing of their two girls, she reinvented her career as a "food-stylist," where she created food and table settings for photography in cookbooks and advertising venues. JoAnn was a devoted and loving wife and mother and instilled the virtues of strong family traditions. Her creative spirit and love of all things beautiful from food to flora was contagious and lives on in her daughters and their families. A closed, private, family-service will be held the morning of Tues., June 27 at Washburn-McReavy Chapel in Edina, MN.
