Barton, Susan Cynthia Susan passed away peacefully on June 20, 2017 after a long, brave struggle with Multiple Sclerosis. Susan was born on January 2, 1947 in Peoria, Illinois of loving parents Alice and John Stevens. She is survived by many loving friends and her husband Vincent and three step children, Lee, Todd and Lynn Barton. After graduating from Peoria High School, Susan attended Bradley University obtaining a Bachelor's Degree in English. She is still remembered by many of her Pi Phi sisters. She then went to work for the Prudential Insurance Company in Chicago. After many different and challenging assignments, she found joy working in the Personnel Department because of the chances to work with the many talented people. She subsequently transferred to the Minneapolis office of Prudential and attained the very responsible position of Director of Human Resources. She retired on disability after 20 years of service. Susan was a person interested in the welfare of people she saw in need and because of her person-ality and lifestyle she developed many long term friendships. She volunteered in areas where needed such as American Association of University Women, 10,000 Things Theater, Books for Africa and First Unitarian Society. When any area in which she was volunteering needed to raise funds, Susan would raise her hand to help. She was very persuasive because people trusted her judgment and desire to do the right thing. Another example of her wanting to help someone who may have a future need, she donated her body to the Medical School at the University of Minnesota. Susan's Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 8th at 2 PM at the First Unitarian Society, located at 900 Mt. Curve Ave., Minneapolis, 612-377-6608. Voluntary donations may be made to Books for Africa, 10,000 Things Theater and the Hennepin County Library System.
