John Kelly Sylvester

Sylvester, John Kelly age 44, of South Minneapolis, was called to Heaven on June 16, 2017. He was surrounded by the arms of his family and passed peacefully after a long battle with ALS. John is our joy and our sunshine; his light will continue to radiate through his sons, who he always called his life and his world. John leaves behind his best friend and beloved wife, Tessie and their boys, Gus (6) & Freddy (5); his parents: Lloyd & Betty Sylvester; his siblings: Parnell Sylvester, Victoria (Wallace) Hicks, Regina (James) Jackson, Cora (Duane) Shorter; numerous nieces and nephews; all of the soccer players, coaches, parents and friends that knew John through his pure love of the beautiful game. A wake celebrating John's life and spirit will be held at Washburn-McCreavy Nokomis Chapel on Tuesday, June 20th, from 4-8 PM. A private service and burial will follow. We were blessed by John's ability to express his wishes for his celebrations of life and ask that everyone please respect his wishes to their fullest extent. John's last request was that we support and comfort Tessie and his boys now and forever. Information about how you can help fulfill John's wish will be shared at the wake.
