Katz, Sybil Halper Age 87, of Golden Valley, passed away on Wednesday. A lifetime member of Hadassah and the National Council of Jewish Women, she was a tireless advocate and leader of Jewish organizations; ser-ving as president of the Upper Midwest Chapter of Hadassah, board member of the B.O.N.D. Organi-zation and many other positions. Born in St. Paul, Sybil was the youngest child of Harry and Florence Halper, and sister of Leonard (Edythe), Dr. Bernard (Barbara) and Jerome (Marice), who precede her in death. She was married for 57 years to the late Arthur Katz, and is survived by four children: Cheryl (Mark Baldassare), William, Dr. Harold (Kathy) and Sheila. Also survived by brother-in-law and sister-in-law Harry and Connie Katz, eight grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, and countless friends. A graduate of University High School and the University of Minnesota, Sybil was a member of the Sigma Delta Tau sorority. Before returning to the Twin Cities, she lived for many years in Little Falls, where she also had numerous friends. Funeral service will be at noon on Sunday, at Mount Zion Temple, 1300 Summit Ave., St, Paul. Shiva will be Sunday at 7 p.m. in the Community Room at The Laurel Apartments, 250 Turner Crossroads, Golden Valley. Memorials preferred to Hadassah or Mount Zion Temple.
