Johnson, Richard W. "Dick" 86, of Edina MN on May 24, 2017, a grand man moved on to greater adventures. Dick was preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years Betty Anne; parents George A & Francis; siblings George L & Mary Kahle and grandson Benjamin. He is survived by children Patti Johnson (Jay), Brian (Kim), Karen Kerwin (Scott Pollock); grandchildren Sam, Melanie (Kamel) & Shane; nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors who loved and appreciated the chance to know him as a wonderful giving person. Dick was born and raised in Fairbury, NE during the depression and WWII, which taught him compassion and drive. He served as a Marine Staff Sergeant in the Korean War & graduated from the University of Nebraska with a BS in Ag-Business. Dick worked at Cargill for 37 years, starting in the Salt Division. His natural ability to connect with people helped him achieve success and retire as VP of Cargill Seed Corn Division in 1993. In retirement, he enjoyed traveling the world with Betty, stayed active with the Edina Lions, RAMS, Cargill Cares Retiree Group, Edina Senior Men's Golf, and Christ Presbyterian Church. After Betty passed, Dick enjoyed meeting new friends & connecting with the old ones. His family would like you to remember Dick with joy! Remember those "tickled me/fact of the matter" stories and his infectious laugh. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to NC Little Hospice Edina. Memorial service 11:00 AM, Wednesday, May 31 at Christ Presbyterian Church, 6901 Normandale Road, Edina. Private interment Lakewood Cemetery. Washburn-McReavy.com Edina Chapel 952-920-3996
