Ramlet, Curtis D. age 94, of Naperville, IL passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, May 12, 2017 after battling non-Hodgkins lymphoma. Curtis was born August 20, 1922 in Minneapolis, MN, the son of the late Henry and Josephine Ramlet. He is survived by daughter, Jean (Kevin) Lawlor; son, James (Susan) Ramlet; grandchildren, Andrew and Joseph Ramlet; nephews A. Thomas (Joan) Hawkinson, Bruce Hawkinson, and Lawrence (Cheryl) Hawkinson; sister Betty Baker, and many fond cousins. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 72 years, Shirley, and his dear brother, Roy. After graduating from Roosevelt High School in Minneapolis in 1940, Curtis began working for the Minneapolis & St. Louis Railway. In 1942 he enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving during World War II as part of the Transportation Corps shipping supplies to troops in the Soviet Union. Stationed in Tehran, Iran, he contracted malaria and was discharged in late 1944, returning home to Minneapolis and his job with the M&StL. The family moved to Naperville in 1959 and a year later the M&StL was acquired by the Chicago and Northwestern Railway. When he retired as Manager of Tariff Publications at the CNW in 1986, Curtis had worked at the railroad for 45 years, placing him at the top of the company seniority list. In retirement, Curt and Shirley loved traveling and getting together with friends, neighbors, and family. Curt always had a song in his heart, and his ever-present smile will be missed by all who knew him. Friends and family are invited to a celebration of his life at 4 p.m. on June 11, 2017 at Faith Lutheran Church, 3000 Liberty St., Aurora, IL.
