Rood, Jerome N. Our dearly loved Jerry, age 95, of Plymouth, formerly Arizona and Minneapolis. Jerry passed away peacefully on May 17, 2017. Preceded in death by parents and his beloved wife of 65 years, Leila. Survived by sister, Ila Rood Ronning, brother-in-law, Daniel Ronning, niece Beth (Carl) Ronning Swaggert and nephew Bryan (Nancee) Ronning. Also nieces Jan (Jerry) Vercruse, Sue (Tim) Kufrin, Verna (Dave) Watkins and nephew Bob (Nancy) Cashen. Great nieces and nephews. Jerry was a man of great musical talent and deep faith. He served in the US Navy band during World War II. He taught music in public schools in Tracy and St. Louis Park, MN. His students were devoted to him and through the years sent letters of appreciation. He was a devotee of the opera and sacred music. He conducted high school marching bands as well as church choirs. He and his friend DelRoy built the pipe organ at Golden Valley Methodist Church. His faith was expressed daily by the honest hard working life he lead, his kind and loving spirit, his lovely table graces, his love for his family and friends and his music. He was borne to heaven on the wings of a song. Memorial Service 1:30 PM Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at Spirit of Hope Methodist Church, 7600 Harold Ave., Golden Valley. Private interment Ft.
