Myers, Richard Lee Jerome born June 1936, passed away surrounded by his loving family, November 2016. Richard is survived by his devoted wife Janis LaRue Myers, daughter Alison Myers (Lonny) Gulden, son John LaRue, and daughter Jill LaRue. Richard leaves behind five grandchildren, Josiah (Tiffany) Gulden, Thaddeus (Kirsten) Gulden, Emma Gulden, Benjamin LaRue (Sarah), Kayla LaRue, and great-grandson Tristan Gulden. Richard is also survived by brother George L. Myers of Dallas, TX, sister Diane F. Alm (Kent) of Dent, MN, sister Nancy L. Bosacker (Lyle) of Fort Myers, FL, and many beloved nieces and nephews. Richard was born in Mankato, Minnesota, to Richard L. and Leone B. Myers. Richard graduated from The University of Minnesota where he was involved in theatre, tennis, and was a proud member of the Chi Psi Fraternity organization Richard was first married to Patricia McRill with whom he established and ran the elegant women's store La-Vogue in Mankato. Together they had one daughter Alison. Richard served his community as a 2-term City Council member where he led the City Planning Commission. Richard and Patt were members of Benedict's and The Mankato Golf Club. Richard enjoyed golf, skiing, and hunting with friends and family. Richard and Patt divorced in 1976 after relocating to Edina, MN. Richard later met and married the love of the remainder of his life, Janis Light LaRue. Richard, Jan, John and Jill made their home in Bloomington, MN. Richard transitioned to a career in sales and marketing for the specialty advertising company Advertising Unlimited. Richard continued to enjoy golf at the Olympic Hills Golf Club in Eden Prairie, MN where he and Jan were members. Skiing, hunting, and long-range fishing were some of Richard's favorite pursuits. Richard, Jan and Jill relocated to the golf and equestrian community of Coto de Caza, CA, a place they called "their paradise". Richard and Jan joined The Coto Club allowing them to golf in their own back yard. A newfound love for gardening and the exploration of their new home state provided continual joy. Richard and Jan's favorite pastime was watching Jill develop a thriving career as an accomplished equestrian. Horse shows and competitions became a family event. Jan and Jill continue to enjoy their home in Coto surrounded by wonderful memories and dear friends. A family memorial event will take place in June on Lake Minnetonka where Richard spent many happy childhood summers.
