Gregory Phillip Kleven

Kleven, Gregory Phillip Age 66, of Howard Lake, died April 23, 2017 at Park Nicollet Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park. Greg was born May 4, 1950 in Minneapolis to Grace and Carl Kleven. A graduate of St. Louis Park H.S. and Moorhead State Univ., he worked as a sports editor for Sun Newspapers for 42 years, covering communities across the Twin Cities suburbs. Growing up, he was very active in sports and played football and baseball in college. At 6'6" tall, Greg was intimidating on the field, but off the field he was known for his fun-loving nature and quick wit. Greg is survived by his sister, Nancy (Bob) Bratvold, East Grand Forks; nieces and nephews, Randy Bratvold, Minneapolis; Julie (David) Liew, St. Paul; Kyle (Beth) Ashwill, Cokato; Karissa (John) Kasella, Ransom, KS; and brother-in-law, Dale Ashwill, Cokato. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Sandy Ashwill. Celebration of Life will be held at 2pm Friday, May 5, with visitation at 1pm at Gearty Delmore Funeral Home, 3960 Wooddale Ave (@ Excelsior Blvd) in St. Louis Park.
