Lier, Joanna (Jodi) Pryor Castleman passed away peacefully at home on April 22, 2017 surrounded by love of family. Her courage and brave smile never wavered over her 3 year battle with stage 4 lung cancer. Jodi was born on March 20, 1950 in Honolulu, HI to parents David and Evelyn Castleman (McDaniel). She lost both parents by age 8, and was raised in NJ by her late Aunt and Uncle; George and Doris McDaniel. She attended W Nottingham Academy from age 13-18, active in drama, athletics and leadership. From 76-86 she was a key member of the N Plainfield, NJ Junior Women's Club, dedicated to community improvement and volunteer service. Jodi spent the last 30 years in MN raising her kids and working as a Human Resource professional for Freelance, Asian Foods and SF Planet. She had a huge loving heart and touched the lives of so many. She was honest, hard working and had a great sense of humor. Family was the center of Jodi's life. She loved her garden, beaches, bonfires, sunsets and travel but mostly good conversation. She will be in our hearts forever. Jodi is survived by her children; David Lier (Nicole), Karen Tonnis (Bryon), Trevis Gardner (Candice), 5 grandchildren; Paige and Adelynn Lier, Liam Tonnis, Libby and Bekkah Gardner, sister Evelyn Blue Castleman, and loving partner of 18 years, Edward Zepeda. Join us for a Celebration of Life in her honor on Monday, May 8th at Long Lake Regional Park (1500 Old Hwy 8, New Brighton) under the pavilion 4:30-8pm. (Memorial Service 5:30-6, food and libations to follow) In lieu of flowers, donations to nonprofit MN State Fair can be sent to 1265 Snelling Ave, St. Paul, MN 55108 for "Jodi Lier Memorial Bench" (must put in check memo).
