Eileen 'Winnie' Nelson

Nelson, Eileen "Winnie" Age 95 of Alexandria, MN and Prior Lake passed away April 23rd. Preceded in death by husband of 58 years, Julian "Joe" Nelson and son, David Nelson. Survived by sons, Jim (Molly) of Forest, VA, and Greg (Nancy) of Venice, FL; daughter-in law Susan of Lincoln, NE; six grandsons; eleven great grandchildren; sister, Lois Leighton of Bloomington; many relatives and friends. Graduate of Alexandria High School and St. Olaf College with a degree in Home Economics. Music had always been a passion of hers and participated in band during high school/college and sang in choir at 1st Lutheran Church in Alex. Taught school in Harmony, MN and Buffalo, NY. Enjoyed teaching, baking, cooking, sewing, entertaining and was the ultimate "Mom". Winnie and Joe spent retirement life with summers on the Lakes of her hometown Alexandria and winters in Mesa, AZ. The past 14 years at Summit Place, Eden Prairie and McKenna Crossing, Prior Lake. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff/caregivers at McKenna Crossing, Optage Hospice and Summit Place. Funeral service Saturday, 4/29, 11 a.m. with visitation 1 hour prior at Washburn-McReavy, 5000 W. 50th & Hwy 100, Edina. Interment: Lakewood Cemetery.
