Peter Nelson

Nelson, Pete 62, of Golden Valley, MN, died Saturday, April 22nd at his home after a brief illness with cancer. Peter was born January 30, 1955 to Otis and Norma Nelson. He grew up in Stewartville, MN and attended Stewartville schools until joining the service in 1972. Pete married LeeAnn Goodroad on October 14th 1983 and they have been loving soul mates ever since. They made their home in Golden Valley. Peter worked as the VP of Clearr Corp and then in the last few years as a Consultant for numerous other Corporations, and Menards. Pete was known for his great sense of humor and kind generous heart. He loved to travel, fish, golf, read and garden. Family and friend gatherings were a great place to hear him sing and entertain others. He loved to have fun and laugh! Pete is survived by his wife, LeeAnn, 4 brothers, Tom (Darlene) of Maple Lake, Mark (Shirly) of Rochester, Steve (Deb) of Rochester and Eric (Wendy) of Rock Dell, 5 sisters, Karen Bush of Grand Meadow, Nancy (Ted) of Elk River, Alice Giefer of Hastings, Ruth Johnson (Jerry) of Kasson, Christine Wilson (Steve) of Rochester and Sarah Nelson-Thorpe (Kevin) of Bloomington plus many, many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, Jimmy, David, and Otis Jr. and 1 sister, Marilyn O'Connell. The funeral will be Friday April 28th at 1pm at Golden Valley Lutheran Church. Please wear a hat or cap in honor of Pete. A luncheon will follow at Chester Bird American Legion in Golden Valley. Burial will be at Fort Snelling at a later date.
