Anderson, Rodney D. age 65, of Rochester, MN, passed away at his residence on Thursday, April 20, 2017. Rod was born January 11, 1952 in Breckenridge, MN. to Kenneth and Alice (Anderson) Anderson. He grew up on a farm outside of Wolverton, MN. On May 23, 1981, he married Julie Schlagel in St. Paul, MN. Rod lived an active and full life. He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. Rod practiced law in the areas of estate planning, trust, probate and taxation for 38 years. He served his clients with professionalism and compassion. He served his profession as a member of the Minnesota Trust and Estate Council, authored sections for the Probate and Trust Law Deskbook, and as an Adjunct Professor at Hamline Law School. Rod was honored by his colleagues with membership in the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel, and as a Minnesota Super Lawyer for many years. Rod served the community of Rochester as a member of the Seasons Hospice Board of Trustees and Gift of Life Transplant House Board of Trustees. Rod served his church as a member of the Personnel Team and advising church members and staff regarding planned giving. Rod served youth as a baseball coach for 13 years. He coached from the youth level, through VFW, American Legion, and high school at Rochester Lourdes. He is survived by his wife, Julie; daughter Jennifer (Andrew) Mathys of Hudson, WI; son Eric (Julie) Anderson of Fargo, ND and two grandchildren Grace and Aaron. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Keith. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Bethel Lutheran Church 810 3rd Ave. SE Rochester, MN. with Reverend Dr. Norman Wahl officiating. Visitation will be on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 from 5-8 pm at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home 5421 Royal Place NW Rochester, MN. and 1 hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Gift of Life Transplant House, Bethel Lutheran Church, or the American Heart Association.
