Hayden, Marilyn Passed away on June 18, 2014 at N.C. Little Hospice in Edina, MN. She was born on May 4, 1923 in Stuart, Iowa to Edgar and Mae Griffin. She attended Grinnell College and the University of IA where she graduated with a BS in Zoology. She held the position of Clinical Parasitologist with the University of IA, where she also taught sophomore medical students. She went on to work at the Veteran's Hospital in IA, and then the Zoology Department at the University of MN. In 1947, Marilyn married Austin J. Hayden. They raised their family in LeSueur and Edina, Minnesota. Marilyn was exceptionally curious about the world around her, and traveled extensively. She had a great love and respect for people, and instilled an enormous love for animals in her children. She was a patron of the Minnesota Symphony Orchestra and attended many Guthrie productions. Marilyn was a voracious reader and loved nature, especially birds. She also loved movies and was an avid golfer. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Berl Hammack; her husband, Austin; her son, Gary Hayden; and her son-in-law, Dan Hergott. She is survived by children, Gail Hergott, Gregory (Kathy) Hayden, Geralyn (Tom Sheasby) Hayden; and daughter-in-law, Paulette Hayden; as well as 3 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Visitation at Washburn-McReavy Edina Chapel, W. 50th St at Hwy 100, Tuesday, June 24, 4 - 7 PM. Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday, June 25, 11 AM with visitation one hour prior at Church of St. Patrick, Valley View Rd at Gleason Rd, Edina.
