Smith, Earl J. of Eden Prairie, MN was born June 25, 1926 and passed away January 20, 2017 at the age of 90. Son of Earl & Gladys Smith born in Minne apolis, MN. Graduate St Thomas Academy in 1945 where he was an avid football player. Earl married Jeanne M. Emerson on 8/27/1949. Earl's career started with the Teamsters Local 975 as Secretary/Treasurer. He spent 18 years as a Teamster. Earl went to work for Federal Mediation and Conciliation in 1964. He retired from FMC in 1990 at age 64. Earl was an avid golfer and played regularly until he was 86. Earl was preceded in death by his spouse Jeanne (Emerson), parents Earl and Gladys, sister Gloria (Bandy), grandson Matthew and close friend Doe Callahan. He is survived by sister Kathryn, brother Paul, his 4 sons Michael (Karen) Bemidji, Dave (Jo Ann) Puposky, Dan (Barbara) Minnetonka and Patrick (Kristi) Elk River, 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. His celebration of life will be at Pax Christi Catholic Community, 12100 Pioneer Trail, Eden Prairie, MN. Family gathering 10am, service 11am on Saturday (4/29) with lunch to follow service at the church. Burial immediately following the lunch at Pleasant Hill cemetery next to the Pax Christi church. Family asks memorials be directed to Pax Christi Catholic Community or N.C. Little Hospice House Edina. We thank the staff of North Memorial Hospice and N.C. Little Hospice for the care he received his last days. The family has set up a fund for the employees of N.C. Little Hospice House.
