Kempffer, Harold James "Red" Age 91 passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2017. He is survived by his wife, Gertrude Ann (Mickey) after 70 years of marriage. Together, they had four children, Betsy, Michael, Barbara (Michael) and Patrick (Marian). Red is further survived by 4 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren. Red served as a ball turret gunner on a B-24 Bomber during World War II. He completed 50 missions flying out of an airbase in Venosa, Italy, with the 15th Air Force. On September 10, 1944, while on a mission over southern Europe, Red's Bomber, "Fifty Missions from Broadway" was hit by enemy anti-aircraft fire and went down somewhere in Yugoslavia. He later worked for Control Data Corp as a manufacturing engeneer. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, April 7, 2017 at 10:30am at St. Richard's Catholic Church (7540 Penn Ave)., Richfield, MN, with visitation starting at 9:30 a.m. Private interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
