Rothstein, Jean Elizabeth Ryan of Grand Rapids, MN, and Deephaven, MN, age 93, passed away March 25, 2017 at Deephaven Woods Senior Living. Jean was born in Hibbing, MN, on June 21, 1923. Jean graduated from the College of St. Scholastica and the University of Minnesota with a Master of Medical Records degree. Jean married Eugene Francis Rothstein in Hibbing on June 26, 1948, and they made their home in Grand Rapids for 67 years. Jean is survived by her children: Mary (Dale) Alberts, Ann (Tom) Stanley, Carol (Kim) Culp, Jim (Ali) Rothstein, Margaret (Tom) Hebig, John (Rose) Rothstein, Martha (Jim) Williams, Bill (Mary) Rothstein, Tom (Molly) Rothstein, Paul (Kathy) Rothstein, Peter (Omar Guevara Soto) Rothstein, 39 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, sister-in-law, Eileen Rothstein, and many treasured nieces and nephews. Jean was preceded in death by her cherished husband, Eugene, parents, Elizabeth B. and James H. Ryan, five brothers and their wives: Francis (Clarice), Clarence, Russell (Pennies, Buddy), Edward (Kathleen), twin brother, John (Nancy) Ryan. Jean lived her life in service, with great faith, and an unending love for her family. She dedicated countless years to St. Joseph's Catholic Church and School, the College of St. Scholastica and the Grand Rapids community, quietly living by example. Visitation will be at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Grand Rapids, March 30, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. followed by the Mass of Resurrection at 12 p.m. Memorials are preferred to St. Joseph's Church and School.
