Steiner, Larry G. age 78 of Wayzata, MN passed away on March 21 from cancer. Larry was highly dedicated to everything he undertook from beekeeping to leading a large family company. He was born Feb. 8, 1939 to Irene (Peggy) Gillette Steiner and George R. Steiner. Larry earned a bachelor's degree in economics from Trinity College in Hartford CT and married Joy Just in Lake Forest IL in 1963. After graduating from Officer Candidate School he was on active duty in the U.S. Navy and served on a destroyer in the South China Sea. After his military service Larry started his career with American Linen (now Ameri-Pride Services) in 1965 and served the organization in some capacity for more than 50 years. Larry was the grandson of company co-founder Frank Steiner and a third-generation family owner of the company. He held a number of positions rising to become Chairman of the Board. He joined the Board of Directors in 1984 and became President and Chairman in 1992. He retired from the company in 2003, but continued to serve on the Board of Directors and the Audit and Compensation Committees until his death. Larry also had a long history of industry and community involvement. He was actively involved in the Textile Rental Association of America (TRSA) and served as president and chairman from 1991-93. He also served on the Board of Directors for the Boy Scouts of America, Breck School, the Humane Society, Children's Hospital and many other local charities. Recently he endowed the Steiner Family Scholarship which awards up to 12 scholarships per year to children of AmeriPride company employees. This was his way of showing his appreciation and gratitude to the employees of the company he loved. He is survived by his son Lawrence (Ginger), his daughter Alexis Roland (Greg), grandchildren Philip Roland, Annaka Roland, Calyx Steiner, Brandt Roland, Haven Steiner and Olive Steiner; sister Georgia Wiester (John), brother Bruce Steiner (Julie) many other relatives and friends. Larry was preceded in death by his wife Joy, brother Robin and parents George and Peggy Steiner.
