Strandberg, James B. Age 58, passed away unexpectedly on December 29, 2016, at his home in San Francisco. Jim was born in Minneapolis on June 30, 1958, to John and Carol Strandberg, both of whom preceded him in death. He is survived by his siblings Marilyn "M.J." John Bruce (Joan Zacher), Carrie (Joe Doyle); nephew Zach Doyle, niece Julia Doyle; and many other family members and dear friends. Jim graduated from Washburn High School in 1976. He graduated from the University of Minnesota with a B.A. in American Studies in 1981. He received his M.A. and A.B.D. from New York University. Jim had a long career in publishing, working at Random House/Knopf, McGraw-Hill and Harper Collins in New York and at Brooks/Cole and Thomson/Wadsworth in California before starting his own business. He played a key role in the development of college textbooks in the social and behavioral sciences. He was an adjunct professor, teaching U.S. History and American Government at colleges in New York, Minnesota, Wisconsin and California. He was a lifetime DFLer and renowned political pundit who delighted many with his "Strandberg Spins " his predictions of election outcomes throughout the country. He loved living in San Francisco and could often be found at one of his favorite Starbucks in the Financial District doing his computer work and enjoying a dry cappuccino with cinnamon. Jim was a kind, generous, intelligent man with a marvelous sense of humor and rapier wit. He will truly be missed. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 3 pm, at The Cremation Society of Minnesota, 7110 France Avenue South, Edina, MN. Visitation one hour prior to service. Memorials preferred to the family.
