Fontaine, The Very Reverend H. Douglas Born January 20, 1931 in Charleston West Virginia to Elizabeth and H. Doug- las Fontaine, died on February 23, 2017. He was preceded in death by his wife Jeanne and is survived by his sister Nancy, five children, Doug (Kelley), Tim (Kate), Ann (Bret), Maury (Anne) and Peter (Ashley) and seven grand children. He served as the Dean of St. Mark's Cathedral where he was a champion of social justice. St Mark's was one of the first Episcopal churches in the nation to have a woman priest on staff and among the first to send an openly gay man to seminary. Academic: BA PolSci Virginia Theological Seminary; MD Episcopal Theological Seminary; Honorary DD Seabury Western Seminary. Work: Trinity Church Shepherdstown WVA; Canon Pastor Christ Church Cathedral Houston TX; Rector Christ Church Tyler TX; Dean at St. Marks for 23 years. Committees: Chair re- districting Co. Citizen Council, Metropolitan Medical Center Board. Veteran U.S. Army lieutenant. In lieu of flowers donations to St. Mark's Cathedral Minneapolis or Trinity Church Excelsior. Funeral 2:00 PM, Sat., April 1st 2017 St. Mark's Cathedral Minneapolis.
