Grones, LeRoy Thomas April 16, 1928 - February 22, 2017 age 88 of Waite Park, MN. LeRoy was born to John B. and Elizabeth (Hoehns) Grones on April 16, 1928 in Robbins-dale, MN. He was raised and lived much of his life in North Minneapolis, where he attended St. Bridget's School and graduated from De La Salle High School in 1946. LeRoy married Frances Mae Schmit on October 2, 1948. They raised their family in North Minneapolis and New Hope where they built a home in 1967. LeRoy worked at Dale Tile Co. for 25 years and then as a Real Estate agent until his retirement in 1994. Upon retirement they moved to their summer home on Lake Kandyohi and wintered for 17 years in Mesa, AZ. They moved to their final home in Waite Park in 2002. LeRoy and Fran were very active members and world travelers with Friendship Force MN from 1979-1992. They had many friends around the world. LeRoy is survived by four of his five children, Debbie (Tim) Nelson, Tom (Janet) Grones, Connie (Greg) Trandem, John Grones; daughter-in-law, Mary Parsons; 9 grandchildren, Nicholas (Christine) Trandem, Ali (Jimmy) Haws, Zachary (Andy) Nelson-Winters, Benjamin (Ada) Trandem, Timothy Grones, Trevor (Jen) Nelson, Andrew Trandem, Travis Trandem, and Maxwell Grones; 8 great-grandchildren, Billy Trandem, Cecilia Trandem, Isabelle Trandem, Catherine Trandem, Gregory Trandem, Charlie Haws, Cyndel Winters and Hildy Trandem. LeRoy was welcomed into heaven by his wife Fran; his youngest son William; his daughter-in-law Carla and his parents John and Elizabeth; his 5 sisters, Rose, Betty, Virginia, Mary and Donna, and his 3 brothers, Harland, Richard, and Arthur. Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, March 25 at the Parish Community of St. Joseph, 8701 36th Ave N., New Hope; 10 am visitation, 11 am Mass of Christian Burial and interment at Gethsemane Cemetery.
