Moon, Mrs. Hyunsook of Eatontown, NJ passed away on February 21, 2017. She was 93 years old and the cause of death was pneumonia and its aftereffects. Mrs. Moon was born in Pyongyang, North Korea, on December 24, 1923, the second daughter of Mr. Myunwha Lee and Mrs. Sokok Lee, She graduated from West Gate Girls' High School in Pyongyang in 1941 and was an elementary school teacher before she married Mr. Sunghoon Moon in 1943. The Moons lived in Manchuria for a period where their first son, Sooduck Peter, was born in 1944. Subsequently, the Moons moved to South Korea where three other children were born: Jae, Hyeyoung and Kunduck. In 1966 the Moons emigrated to Paraguay, Argentina and finally the US. Mrs. Moon lived in Minneapolis from 1969 to 1990. Thereafter, Mrs, Moon lived in Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina and New Jersey. Mrs. Moon is remembered as a strong matriarch who instilled in her children and grandchildren the importance of education and hard work. Mrs. Moon was predeceased by her eldest son, Sooduck (1979) and her husband (1990). She is survived by the following children and grandchildren: Phoebe Moon of Seattle, WA; Jae and Terry Moon of Arnold, MD; Kangjin and Hyeyoung Kim of Durham, NC; Kunduck Moon and Ellen Iseman of Winchester, VA; Erik and Hope Moon of Seattle, WA; Jeniffer Moon and Heather Seltzer of Brooklyn, NY; Jemin and Jiyun Kim of Atlanta, GA; Brian and Florence Moon of Long Island City, NY; Jay and Aimee Kim of Durham, NC; Michael Norbeck and Cristina Moon of Oakland, CA. Mrs. Moon is also survived by three great-grandchildren: Eloise and Margot Moon and Walter Kim.
