Schaefer, Mary Jane (nee Harding) age 86 of Minneapolis, formerly of Columbia Heights, Minnesota. She passed away February 12, 2017. She was born in St. Paul, Minnesota November 2, 1930. She was preceded in death by her husband, Benedict J.; parents Mary and Michael Harding; sisters Frances Harding, Ann Jacobson and Kathleen Hundorf; brothers Michael and Robert Harding. She is survived by daughter Rose Mary Schaefer-Kelm (Charles); son William J; sisters-in-law Mary Ann Lauer, Alice Schaefer, Verna Schaefer, brother-in-law Math Schaefer and many nieces and nephews. She began working at young age. Mary Jane learned to run a billing machine and make statements at Baker's Department store. This enabled her to go on to a career in banking for 46 years and retired from Wells Fargo. She was involved and supported her husband Ben in all his activities as a member of the Columbia Heights Lions, Knights of Columbus and Immaculate Conception Church. Visitation is from 4-8 PM February 27 at Washburn-McReavy Funeral Chapel, 4101 Central Ave NE, Columbia Heights. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM on February 28, 2017 with visitation one hour before at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Columbia Heights. Luncheon will follow Mass in lower level of the church. Burial will take place following the luncheon at Gethsemane Cemetery, in New Hope, Minnesota.
