Hartle, Joseph Martin Age 73, passed away on January 21, 2017, surrounded by his family after surviving Lung Cancer and dying from MDS Bone Marrow Cancer. Born on 7/5/1943 in Minneapolis, MN to Dr. George G. and Alice L. (Hopkins) Hartle. He graduated from Benilde H.S. and St. John's University and in 1965 signed as a free agent with the Minnesota Vikings. He also played and coached on the first 2 National Championship teams with St. John's. He loved and played many sports while growing up. In 1965, Joe married the love of his life, Jean L. Glaser. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, James and 2 brothers, David and Philip. He is survived by his loving wife, Jean, of 52 years; children, Jon (Toni) of Richfield, Jennafer (Chris Wells) of Minneapolis and Josh (Wendy), of Faribault, MN; 3 brothers, Andrew (Mesa, AZ), James (Jan) of Crystal, MN and Edward of Minneapolis; 3 sisters, Cathy (Doug Larsen) of Little Falls, Jeanne (Dave Hamlin) of Forest Lake, and Mary Alice of Mesa, AZ; and his sisters-in-law, Trlsha and Carol Hartle. He is survived by 6 grandchildren, Amber, Jake, Joe, Dani, Amanda and Maggie; and many nieces and nephews. Joe retired in 2007, spending his life in Sales and Sales Management: most recently 12 years as a Realtor; and previously as a Sales Manager for Panasonic Company; Founder and owner of Video Plus, Inc.; Midwest Sales Manager for Advent Corporation; and Store manager for various Sound of Music stores (Now called Best Buy, Inc.). He was involved in his community as district Chairman for Minnesota Heart Fund, St. John's Alumni Association Board of Directors, and with Hennepin Technical Centers Advisory board, The Richfield and Minneapolis Chambers of Commerce and the National Association of Retailers. In 1981, his Company was chosen Video Retailer of the year for Audio-Video Magazine. A gathering of friends and family to celebrate Joe's life will be on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at the Cremation Society Edina Chapel, 7110 France Ave So., Edina, MN 55435 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. The Funeral Mass will be Friday, February 3, 2017, at St. Peter's Catholic Church, 6730 Nicollet Ave., Richfield, MN. 55423 at 11:00. There will be visitation one hour before. A luncheon will be held following the service in the church reception hall. Memorials preferred to Shriners Hospitals for Children - Twin Cities.
