Jorgenson, Robert S. Age 95 of St. Louis Park, previously Edina, passed away December 6th, 2016. Preceded in death by first spouse, Jean and second spouse, Elaine. Bob grew up on a dairy farm in Fergus Falls. His Forestry studies at the U of M were interrupted by WWII, where he served 3 years in the US Army Air Corps, 8th Air Force and was a P-51 Mustang Pilot based out of Honington, England. He flew 35 missions over enemy occupied territory, bailed out once, and was able to avoid the English Channel only to land in a Belgium mine field. Medals awarded included the Bronze Star. He joined the US Fish and Wildlife Services appraising lands desired to be acquired for waterfowl purposes, and enjoyed his career spent outside. After leaving the Bureau, Bob pursued his "hobby" of growing Christmas trees near Princeton, MN. In partnership with his son as B & J Tree Farms they sold trees at a number of locations in the metro area. Dad was a man of integrity, fiercely independent, and generous to a fault. He truly enjoyed his social activities cribbage, pinochle, casino outings playing the poker machines, and collecting his $5 "winnings" each week from his poker friends. Bob loved the MN Vikings (except for this year), Twins (except for this year), and Gopher athletics (if it involved any round or oblong sphere, he loved it). He loved to travel and visited all European countries in retirement. He loved to tell jokes and was liked by all who met him. Bob loved golf, fishing, and bragging about never having had a broken bone in his life. Dad was infuriating to his children when dining out with them, as they'd all be reaching for their reading glasses and he was the only one that didn't need them. He valued and was so proud of his entire family. Survived by sisters Milly, Betty, Marilyn, and Avis; son, Bob Jorgenson; daughters, Kathy (Bob) Chapman; Jill (Dan) Atkins; and Lynn (Steve) Buttedal; grandchildren Melissa, Kristie, Nick, Caleb, Emily, Joe (Brittany), and Jessica (Zac); 7 great grandchildren. Funeral service Tuesday 12/13, 11:00 am at Good Samaritan Church, 5730 Grove St, Edina 55436. Visitation one hour prior to the service, with reception and lunch to follow. Private Interment at Fort Snelling. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to any VFW. It would be a comfort to the family if you'd consider bringing a "favorite memory" you have of Bob. We're planning on putting it into a memory book. Washburn-McReavy.com Edina Chapel 952-920-3996
