Dehn, Robert J. "Bob" Sr. age 92 of Anoka, passed away peacefully December 4, 2016, surrounded by family. Preceded in death by infant child, sons, Art and Tom. Survived by loving wife of 66 years, Nancy (nee VanAlstine); son, Bob (Bonnie); daughter-in-law, Barb; 4 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Ardelle. Bob was a gold star parent. Bob served in the US Navy for 6 years during WWII. He was part of the 2nd wave invasion on Normandy Beach. He was recognized for being part of four theaters of operation. His Naval battleship was an escort for the USS Missouri through the Pacific Ocean to safely deliver it to the Japanese surrender and end WWII. Not only was Bob a devoted family man, he was an outstanding civil leader in our community. Bob served as a past president of the Anoka Lions and past president of the Anoka Men's Golf Club and was a life member of the VFW. In 2016 Bob was a 69 year member of the Anoka Legion Post 102. Retirement brought on many warm weather travels with Nancy. Bob enjoyed golfing, watching his favorite sports and spending time with family. Bob was a dedicated loving husband, father, grandpa and great-grandpa and will be greatly missed. The family would like to thank the above and beyond excellent care from the doctors, nursing and staff of the neurological (or palliative care) units of Mercy Hospitals in Coon Rapids.
