Schneider, Steve "The Duke of Dirt" of Young America passed away from cancer at his home on November 29, 2016 at the age of 67. Steve was born on December 1, 1948 in Waconia to Edward (Bushy) and Darlene (Van Sloun) Schneider. He attended St. Joseph Catholic Grade School and graduated from Waconia High School in 1966. Steve began operating bulldozers at the age of 10 and started Schneider Excavating and Grading, Inc. in 1973. He was an International Union of Operating Engineers Local No. 49 member since 1971. Steve's passions included antique construction equipment, attending auctions, motorcycles, storytelling, engineering his own solutions, music and stool dancing. Steve was truly a one of a kind individual and was a self proclaimed "Dirt Ball" who loved to talk dirt. As stated by his friend, "Steve is now on his final (road) grade." Steve is preceded in death by his son Brett, parents Edward and Darlene Schneider. He is survived by his special friend Julie Mueller of Young America, daughter Heather (Shawn) Davis of Greenfield, son Ross (Joy) Schneider of Norwood, grandchildren Tate, John and Brooke, sister Pam (Mike) Schulz of Waconia and brother Skip (Roxane) Schneider of Windsor CO., niece Erin (John) Fields, nephews Blake Schulz, Jack Schneider, Sam Schneider, other relatives and friends. Steve hosted his funeral party at Last Call in Young America in October 2016. There will be no formal funeral service. Burial services will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in spring 2017.
