O'Connor, Jerry Thomas Age 87, died peacefully November 2, 2016, at his Elk River home cheering the Cubbies to victory. Jerry was an official court reporter in Wisconsin and Minnesota, spending the end of his career as a court reporter instructor at several local institutions. He was best known by family and friends for his dry and quick wit. And even as his body was failing him, his mind and sense of humor remained strong. Jerry loved golfing and was an avid follower of the pros, taking great pride in the fact that he and Arnie were born in the same year. Jerry achieved the ultimate in golf, a hole-in-one , at the age of 72. Survived by wife Barbara; daughter Joan O'Connor; sons Thomas and Jarrod O'Connor; stepson Todd Madden; sister Barbara Munger; brother James (Lorraine) O'Connor; also many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents Emmett and Dorothy; brother's John, Bud (Bernice), Peter (Flossie) and sister Patricia McDonough. Jerry requested any memorials/gifts be made to your local food shelf or Sharing and Caring Hands of Minneapolis. Plans are being made for a celebration of Jerry's life next spring. And to all his former students: HROF APB PAES TO AUL. Dare's Funeral Home 763-441-1212 daresfuneralservice.com
