Indihar, Frank J., MD of Lilydale MN, died Sunday, October 23, 2016. He was pre-deceased by his parents Frank J. and Rose P. Indihar and sister, Francine. He is survived by his wife, Anita M. Pampusch; sisters, Elizabeth Indihar and Lois (Lyle) Shuey; nephew and nieces, Kevin Shuey, Kristi Shuey, and Karen (Michael) Koronkowski, and grandnieces Kasey & Kelly Koronkowski. Born in Gilbert MN, Frank was salutatorian of Gilbert High School, class of 1960, attended the University of Minnesota and the University of Minnesota Medical School where he graduated in 1973. (He completed an MBA from California Coastal University in 1996). He spent many years with St. Paul Internists while also serving at Bethesda Hospital. He completed his professional career as CEO of Bethesda Hospital and a VP of HealthEast. He interrupted his medical studies to become a Major in the US Army Medical Corps and served both in Vietnam and Washington DC. He received a Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster in 1970 and was honorably discharged in 1971. He was very active in both civic and medical circles, serving on the boards of the St. Paul Seminary, the Minnesota Orchestra, and Catholic Services to the Elderly, among others. He was also President of the Ramsey County Medical Society, and chaired the Minnesota delegation to the American Medical Association House of Delegates for several years. He delighted in mentoring prospective medical students and developed lasting friendships with them. Meanwhile, he published many articles on respiratory care. He was recognized as a Luminary by Metro Doctors in 2015. A true Renaissance man, Frank's warm, affable, and charming personality endeared him to many: he welcomed strangers, built deep, long lasting friendships, and mentored many young people. One of them responded to news of his death by saying, " our friendship turned into a bond that will never be broken and love that will never get lost." Funeral services will be held Monday, October 31 at the Church of St. Peter in Mendota: Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00, preceded by a Reviewal from 9-11 AM. A private burial attended only by family will take place on Nov. 1. Memorials may be directed to: The Minnesota Medical Foundation, the St. Paul Seminary School of Divinity, the HealthEast Foundation for Bethesda Hospital, or the Cathedral Heritage Foundation.
