White, George F. Died peacefully on October 17, 2016 in Minneapolis at age 94. Born to Frank and Isabel White in 1922, he grew up in the Kenwood neighborhood of Minneapolis where he made close lifelong friendships. He was preceded in death by his wife Virginia '(Ginny)' Alden White and his brothers Frank and Robert. George attended the University of Notre Dame and the University of Minnesota, where he earned his degree in Chemical Engineering with his close friend and eventual business partner, Wayne Brock. Before launching the construction supply company, Brock-White, George served as a lieutenant in the Navy in both the European and Pacific Theaters during WWII. George met Ginny Alden, the love of his life, at a mutual friend's wedding and married in 1951. Together, they raised 5 children in Edina, Minnesota. George was an active member of Our Lady of Grace church, President of the Minikahda Club, and co-founder of Associated Construction Distributors International, as well as serving in many other professional, social and philanthropic roles. He and Ginny traveled widely and enjoyed embracing new cultures. George will be missed for his active mind, wry humor and sincere kindness. He is survived by his brother John (Cindy) and children George (Bev), Molly von Rosenberg (Karl), John (Ann), David (Janine), and Katie Borgella (Rene) and 13 wonderful grandchildren. A celebration of his life will be held at 11:00am on October 24 at Our Lady of Grace in Edina. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Our Lady of Grace Church 5071 Eden Avenue, Edina, MN 55436.
