Christensen, Calvin H. 90, died peacefully at home on October 11, 2016. Calvin was born in Hutchinson, Minnesota, on November 29, 1925 and grew up in both Hutchinson and then Lakeville (MN) during the Depression. After graduating from Lakeville High School, he enlisted in the Army in 1944, serving as a member of the Third Army, 87th Infantry, L Company where he spent 100 days on the front line of World War II fighting along the Siegfried Line, Germany's famous line of defense in the Ardennes Forest on the French border. Calvin earned the Army's Combat Infantry Badge during that tour of duty. After his honorable discharge at the conclusion of the war, he married the love of his life, Shirley, raised 3 children and enjoyed a 39-year working career with Federal-Mogul Corporation of Minneapolis. They were married for 57 years before she passed in 2008. Calvin lived in Lakeville until 2012 when he moved to Walker, Minnesota. Throughout his life he most enjoyed time with his family; and also hunting, fishing, skiing, and daily walks with his friends. Calvin was preceded in death by his wife Shirley (Krueger), parents Carl and Andrea, and siblings Wally, Vivian (Pavlike), and Wanda (Ersfeld). He is survived by his children and their spouses, Scott of Stillwater (MN), Cindy (Greene) of Nevis (MN), and Nancy (Yeske) of Park Rapids, (MN). Calvin adored his five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren and will be greatly missed by all. A family grave-side Memorial Service is planned for October 29, in Lakeville.
