Busch, Betty Jean Edina, MN, passed away on September 29, 2016. Betty was born July 25, 1934 to Gladys and Ervin Fogel in Alden, MN. A proud graduate of Browns Valley (MN) High School, she was a cheerleader, Homecoming Queen, and Salutatorian of the class of 1952. Shortly after graduation, Betty met her future husband, the late Richard R. Busch, Jr., while he was on an archeological dig near Browns Valley. They were married August 7, 1953. She and her husband began their lives together in St. Paul, MN. They lived in Racine, WI, and Bloomington, MN, before settling in Edina, MN. A homemaker while her children were young, Betty worked as office manager of Storage Equipment in St. Louis Park, MN; manager of Images of the Old West art gallery in Edina; and library assistant at both the Hennepin County Library and the Edina School District once her kids were grown. She was active in the Morningside Women's Club and the Faculty Wives of the Edina School District. Betty was a faithful member of the Edina-Morningside United Church of Christ and served on many church committees until she became ill. She also volunteered extensively for her kids' extracurricular activities. Betty loved her family, friends, and chatting over a cup of coffee and a cookie. She was beautiful, smart and articulate; an excellent cook and hostess; and had a keen eye for interior design. Betty is preceded in death by her parents, sister Janice Braaten, second husband Charles Darensberg, and the love of her life, first husband Richard R. Busch, Jr. She is survived by sister Sharon Reil (Bill), Wilmot, SD; daughter Susan Busch Nehring (Gary) of Punta Gorda, FL and Side Lake, MN; son Robert Busch (Susan) of Chaska, MN; daughter Sarah Solsvig (Keith) of Franklin, TN; six grandchildren: Katie Busch, Mike Busch, Tom Busch, Anna Solsvig, Jonathan Solsvig, and Benjamin Solsvig; and beloved in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Betty's family would like to thank the caregivers and staff - especially those in Memory Care - at Parkwood Shores Assisted Living in St. Louis Park, MN. Due to their loving care, she was happy, comfortable, and safe during the final years of her life. A celebration of Betty's life will take place on Friday, October 7, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Edina-Morningside United Church of Christ, 4201 Morningside Road, Edina. Her fam-ily will receive visitors at the church beginning at 10 a.m. and invite those in attendance to join them for lunch in the church's fellowship hall immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials be directed to Edina-Morningside United Church of Christ, 4201 Morningside Rd, Edina, MN 55416; the Alzheimer's Association, alz.org; or the American Cancer Society, cancer.org.
