Lilja, Marlys H. Age 91 of Burnsville passed away September 26th 2016. Preceded in death by beloved husband John Lilja, parents Frieda and Harry Cullen, and brother Douglas Cullen. Much-loved mother of Chris Kenyon (Duane Hiti), Phil Lilja and Jamie (Carol) Lilja; grandmother of Sarah (Casey), Laura (Brian) and Jonathan; great-grandmother of Colton, Finleigh, Weston and Moxon. Marlys was born in Minneapolis, and attended Tuttle elementary and Marshall High School. She went on to the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, becoming an accomplished commercial artist for Gambles department store, and Brown & Bigelow. She set aside her art career to become a wonderful mother, raising her three children. Marlys loved nature, appreciating the flowers and birds. Marlys and John updated the family cabin and enjoyed much of their summertime there in retirement years. Special thanks to the Valley Ridge staff. A memorial service will be held at 11AM Tuesday, October 4th at Sunset Funeral Home, 2250 St. Anthony Blvd. NE, Mpls. Gathering of family and friends 1 hour prior. Private interment.
