Leonard D. Payne

Payne, Leonard D. 77, passed away Sept. 22, 2016. Len was born to Leonard & Thelma Stapf in St. Cloud, MN and was later adopted by Donald & Gladys Payne. He grew up in Buffalo, served in the Marine Reserves, and enjoyed a successful career in the sporting goods industry. He is survived by wife of 53 years, Madelon Grothe; children Todd (Robin), Lisa Robinson (John), Steve (Maryann), and Linda (Robert); 10 grand & 2 great-grandchildren; siblings Roger (Heidi), Edwin (Sharon), Shirley (Larry). Celebration of Life will be held at Crown of Glory Lutheran Church, 1141 Cardinal Street, Chaska on Monday, Sept. 26, 10 am. Visitation will be held at Bertas Funeral Home, 200 W 3rd St., Chaska Sunday, Sept 25, 3-6 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting a donation to Crown of Glory Lutheran 2015 Building Expansion Fund.
