Clifford, Donna (Shepherd) Age 100, of Minneapolis, passed away September 11, 2016. Donna was born June 5, 1916 to Richard S. and Julia Shepherd in Pipestone, MN. She attended Mankato State Teachers College and then managed a women's clothing store until 1937 when she married Frederic W. Clifford, Jr. of Mpls. They settled in Mpls where they raised five children, Fred, Barbara, Cynthia, Susan and Kathleen. A devoted mother and wife, Donna was a sparkling personality who was fun loving, enthusiastic, outgoing and loved people and colorful clothes. Her volunteer work at the Red Cross, Society for the Blind, Jones Harrison Home and Abbott Hospital reflected her great empathy for those in need. She had roles in a number of children's plays sponsored by the Junior League Children's Theatre. Her passions included a love of beauty, nature and country, playing golf at Minikahda Club, reading, card games, mahjong and antiques. Inheriting her family's love of music, she had an inexhaustible repertory of songs which delighted many. Donna's ability to see the humor in life's situations, her buoyant personality and her strong faith sustained her through life's many challenges. Throughout her life Donna's joie de vivre brightened the lives of her family, friends and others, even in the briefest of encounters. Preceded in death by her parents, beloved husband Fred, daughter Barbara, sisters Ramona Kruse and Maxine Shepherd and brother Richard Shepherd. She is survived by her son Fred, daughters Cynthia Mason, Susan Clifford and Kathleen Julson, four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends. Services will be private.
