Erickson, John S. of Excelsior, Minnesota. Born June 3, 1932 in Lake City, Iowa. Died September 8, 2016. John was preceded in death by parents Aaron and Steve Erickson, and sister JoAnn Dowling. He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Ginny, and his most precious children and grandchildren; son John and his wife Christine, daughter Lee, daughter Amy, and grandchildren; John Lee, Nick, Alex, Molly, Ginger, Daniel, Erik, Jack, Gabby, and Ally, as well as his dear brother Jim and his wife Mary, niece Sarah and nephew Chuck, brother-in-law Jack Dowling, niece Deb and nephew David Dowling, Sandee, David, and Scott and many dear friends. John moved to Wadena, Minnesota with his family in 1947 and graduated from Wadena High School in 1950. He graduated from Macalester College in 1954 and married the love of his life, Ginny. He served in the Army from 1954 - 1956, and after graduating from Harvard Law School in 1959 he began his career with Cargill. After retiring in 1997, John and Ginny loved spending time on the north shore of Lake Superior and being with their children, grandchildren, and friends. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity in John's memory. A memorial celebration of John's life will be held at a later date. Very recently when reflecting on his full life, John said: "I've had a wonderful life, I have a wonderful family, and have had many wonderful experiences."
