Wood, James T. age 71, of Maple Grove passed away Aug. 28, 2016. Preceded in death by parents, Warren and Ruth; and brother, Bill. Survived by wife of 46 years, Shirley; sons, Brian (Crystal) and Paul (Stephanie); daughter, Susanne (Sean) Karris; grandchildren, Ava, Tyler, Owen, Ryan, and Lucy; brothers, Win (Karen) and John (Laura); sister-in-law, Asa Wood; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Jim grew up in Robbinsdale, MN, where he and his three brothers were known as the neighborhood "rink rats." After attending high school at Benilde St. Margaret, he went on to graduate with a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Minnesota. He worked as a teacher and later transitioned into a career at Honeywell as a corporate trainer. Jim was a devoted husband, father, grandpa, and friend. He enjoyed playing sports throughout his life and was most recently an avid pickleball player. He shared his love of hunting and fishing with family and friends and could always be counted on for a good fishing story, a witty comment, and a smile. Memorials to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Minnesota are preferred. Mass of Christian Burial Thursday (9/1), 11 AM with visitation starting at 10 AM at the Church of St. Joseph the Worker, 7180 Hemlock Lane, Maple Grove. Private interment Lakewood Cemetery.
