Eiden, John Age 91, passed away Weds., Aug. 24, 2016, after a long life lived with happiness and integrity. Born at home Mar 17, 1925, 3rd of 13 children, he grew up on a small farm in Holdingford. Graduated HS with honors, joined the Navy June 1943 WWII as an electronics specialist. Chicago, San Francisco, Hawaii, then served overseas in Japan and China. Returned to MN, attended U of M, met Annette, married 1951. One of the first members of St. Raphael's Catholic Church, Crystal. His values, among honesty and deep faith, included loyalty, and led to 65 yrs of marriage, and 30 yrs at Univac/Unisys as an electronic technician. A career he loved, teaching and repairing mainframe computers, even working at NASA during Apollo 15's flight. Member of Knights of Columbus, 50 yrs of retreats at King's House, Buffalo. He loved his 1942 Harley Davidson motorcycle just a bit less than his family. It filled his long retirement with many trips to Sturgis and friendships in the Antique Motorcycle Club, in addition to travel with Annette, part-time work for 20 yrs at Mpls Auto Auction, volunteer at Pavek Radio Museum, many friends for coffee. Survived by the love of his life Annette and six children, daughters Cindy Nygaard, Mary (Greg) Johnson, sons Dan (Treasure), Michael, Tom (Kathy), and Johnny (Natalie). 12 grandchildren Brent (Jenn) Nygaard, Christina (George) Moutzalias, Jeff (Eowyn) Nygaard, Joe (Trina) Johnson, Tim (Crystal) Johnson, Andrea (Karl) Perlinger, Jeremy (Ann) Eiden, Beth (Brad) Meyers, Kim Eiden, David Eiden, Sherry (Seth) Scholz, and Bryan Olson, and 16 great-grandchildren. Also survived by brothers Leo, Glen, George and Warren, and sisters Mona, Margie and Ellen. Preceded in death by parents, Walter and Christina Eiden, and siblings Kathleen, Esther, Lois, Alphonse and Sheila. "There is a moment in our lives when we see one of the great riders, the look of perfect enjoyment on his face, at one with his machine. The past and present blurring together, neither old nor young, but immortal in the moment. Keep riding, John." The world is a better place because he was here. Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 AM Monday, Aug. 29 at the Church of St. Raphael, 7301 Bass Lake Rd., Crystal. Visitation Sunday 3-6 PM at Gearty-Delmore Robbinsdale Chapel, 3888 W.
