O'Donnell, Carol Joan of Rose-mount, MN, passed away peacefully at her home on July 26, 2016 at the age of 83. Carol was born December 4, 1932 in Niagara, ND to Norwegian immigrants Nels and Carrie (Skibsted) Rustebakke. Carol was the youngest of seven children. In 1940 Carol was visiting her sister in Rolla, ND. She was 8 years old and met a neighbor boy, Gerald O'Donnell. They became friends and on December 28, 1953 were married. In 1956 they moved to the Minneapolis area where they raised their family. They were best friends and partners in marriage for 57 years until the death of Gerald parted them in 2011. Carol was an exceptional mother, friend and confidante. She was a rare, genuine person who truly cared for and loved her family and friends. She taught all of her family the gift of unconditional love and faith. Carol gave her time, energy and talents back to her family with an open heart. She was a beautiful seamstress, outstanding homemaker, and devoted to her family. Carol worked diligently every day to make her family's lives better, happier. She was a gift to treasure and will be missed dearly by many. Preceded in death by her husband, Gerald; grandson, Nicolas; and great grandson, Isaiah; six siblings Allan, Elsie (Rustebakke) O'Donnell, Ralph Palmer, Morris, and Nels Rustebakke. She is survived by her children, Michael (Marilyn), Carrie and Kelly O'Donnell; grandchildren, Ryan (Jenny), Erin, Josh, Jeffery, Jacob, Joseph, and Marah; step granddaughters, Raegan (Richard) Walker, and Nicole Pederson, great grandsons, Isaac and Karsten; great granddaughters, MacKenzie and Iris; step great grandchildren, Colton and Ella; also by other loving relatives and friends. Funeral Service 11 AM Friday, July 29, 2016 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 13901 Fairview Drive, Burnsville, MN. Visitation will be from 4-7 PM Thursday at White Funeral Home, 14650 Pennock Ave., Apple Valley and one hour prior to service at the church. Interment Lebanon Cemetery, Apple Valley.
