Blomquist, Marianne Beloved sister, aunt, great aunt, cousin and friend born on Feb. 2, 1922 in Waubun, Minnesota, died on April 24, 2014. Preceded in death by parents John and Emelia Blomquist, sisters Grace, Sigrid, Jean, Joy and brother Don. Survived by brother Ted (Rae) and sister Marjorie, and many nieces and nephews. Exposed to classical music at an early age, Marianne enjoyed listening to the Metropolitan Opera and New York Philharmonic radio broadcasts. She was a gifted piano player with a beautiful voice, and loved dancing to the music of the big band era. Marianne attended Concordia College and graduated from the Minnesota School of Business. She worked for New Brighten Manufacturing, and later with Northwest Airlines where she became secretary to the president of the airlines, Donald Nyrup. After 42 years of loyal service, she retired. In her retirement, Marianne spent summers at the family cabin at White Earth Lake and winters in Arizona with her siblings. She loved playing bridge and was an avid sports fan. A devout Christian, Marianne was an active member of Normandale Lutheran Church. She will be greatly missed by family and friends. A memorial celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, May 6th at 11:00 a.m. at the Normandale Lutheran Church, 6100 Normandale Rd. in Edina, Minnesota. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Normandale Lutheran Church or charity of your choice.
