Vollmar, Craig L. of St. Louis Park and formerly Minneapolis, died on April 18, 2014 at 76 years of age. Born May 24, 1937, Holstein IA, to Bryce and Mary Vollmar. Attended Iowa State where he earned a degree in Chemical Engineering; married Alice Speakman in January 1960 and moved west to ski and earn a law degree from the University of Utah. Worked for Humble Oil, Houston TX; Exxon Oil Company New York, NY; Gray Plant Mooty Law Firm, Minneapolis MN; then practiced law privately until 2009 when he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Initial board member of Common Ground Meditation Center, Minneapolis MN, Craig regularly led anger and forgiveness workshops there. He also organized and led a bike team for the last three years for the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PANCAN) Purple Bike Ride. An avid handball player, Craig served on the board of the former Minneapolis Athletic Club forming many lasting friendships. He loved camping, hiking, biking and telling stories to all listening ears. Craig played trombone and happily shared his passions for many things, including music, with his family. Less joyfully received were ideas such as holding early "family morning exercise." Predeceased by parents, baby sister Gloria Mae, grandson Joshua Sunderman, sister-in-law Willie Vollmar, brother-in-law John Speakman. Survived by wife of 54 years, Alice, and children Jill, Frank (Shelly), Amy Sunderman (Chuck), Meg Mumper (Jerry), Alyssa Record (Mike), Bob (fiancée Vanessa Ramirez). Also brother Bob, eleven grandchildren, nieces and nephew.
